O estudo do "Homem moral" na faculdade de medicina do Rio de Janeiro, no século XIX

The article describes from an analytical point of view thePsychological knowledge elaborated and transmitted in the Faculty ofMedicine of Rio de Janeiro during the 19th century. The documentsconsulted are dissertations, theses, articles and books produced bystudents and Faculty members during that time. The reading of thesemateriais showed the meaning and relevance that the study of humansubjectivity had in that context. Particularly, the definitions applied by theauthors to Psychological knowledge and the methods proposed for boththe study of psychical phenomena and the therapy of psychopathologicalphenomena are discussed.O artigo descreve e analisa os conhecimentos psicológicos elaborados e transmitidos na Faculdade de Medicina do Rio de Janeiro, no século XIX. Os documentos utilizados para a pesquisa são dissertações,teses, artigos e livros produzidos por alunos e docentes da Faculdade,na época considerada. A leitura desse material evidencia o significado e a relevância que o estudo da subjetividade humana assume nesse contexto. De forma específica, são discutidas as definições atribuídas a essa área de interesse pelos autores e os métodos propostos seja para o estudo dos fenômenos psíquicos, seja para a terapia dos fenómenos psicopatológicos
